1-on-1 Virtual

Virtual swim coaching via video and zoom conference call

I do have some clients that will fly in to Gainesville regularly to spend between two to five days to schedule 1-on-1 coaching sessions with me. However, I understand that will not be feasible for everyone. If your situation makes it difficult to schedule in-person sessions with me, please reach out via email to request a “virtual session”. Here is how the process will work:

  • Email me directly to set up an initial call or zoom to go over your needs and video requirements
  • You submit video of your training and / or racing.
  • I will assess the video and analyzie your technice/racing.
  • I will reach out to you to schedule a zoom meeting with you (and your parents if under 18 years of age) to discuss your swimming.

  • Video tips
    • Any current mobile phone quality video image should be of high enough quality.
    • Preferred Camera Angles
      • Above water, side view (stationary camera)
        • Camera man stands next to the pool.
        • Without moving the camera, you will only be able to get a few strokes of the swimmer as they pass by the viewing angle of the camera.
        • Repeat 2-3 times and submit all videos.
      • Above water, side view (Camera man walks next to swimmer)
        • critical to hold the camera as steady as possible or it may not be an acceptable video to analyze.
        • Be sure to capture the hands as they enter the water on each stroke…do not cut the hands out of the frame
      • Above water, front view (stationary camera)
        • You will only need to film the swimmer’s final 10-12 meters as they approach the camera.
        • Position the camera directly from in front of the swimmer
      • Below water, side view (stationary camera)
        • Hold the camera 6 inches underwater
        • Do not move the camera.
        • The swimmer swims past the camera
        • Repeat 2-5 times. Submit all video’s
      • Below water, side view (camera man walks next to swimmer)
        • Hold camera 6 inches underwater
        • The camera man walks alongside the swimmer the entire length of the pool.
        • Have the swimmer in “lane 2” to provide some distance so that the entire swimmer’s body is within the camera’s viewing frame.
      • Below water, front view
        • Hold camera 6 inches under the surface of the water
        • You will only need to film the swimmer’s final 10-12 meters as they approach the camera.
        • Position the camera directly from in front of the swimmer
      • If you do not have an underwater camera case, that’s ok. Get what you can. The more you submit, the more helpful that will be for me to get information on your stroke.
The speed of the swim should be approaching race pace.
Keep the camera as steady as possible.
Be sure to keep the hands in the viewing screen at all times during the stroke. If the feet go out of view, we can live with that..but not the hands.
