Hi, my name is Stephen Jungbluth. If you are looking for a private swim coach to elevate your swimming, I’m here for you.
I was a college swim coach for 27 years, spanning the Division III level (
Amherst College), Division I mid-major (
U.S. Naval Academy &
Colgate University) and the Power 5. My last stop was 13 years both the Sprint Coach and Associate Head Coach for the
Florida Gators at the
University of Florida.
During that time, I’ve coached 20 NCAA Champions and 31 Olympians. Now, I am sharing that experience and knowledge as a private swim coach to help you realize your true potential. My strengths as a swimming coach are my ability to break down the stroke into its most basic elements, identify which details need improvement, and then communicate that to the swimmer to help him or her understand how to move through the water more efficiently.
In a normal club environment, a coach must manage 30 or perhaps as many as 60 swimmers at a time – in multiple training groups with various ability levels. The coach must keep an eye on intervals, pacing, the assistant coaches, the timing of the work out, lane space, who might need motivation, and much more. Technique is never going to be at the top of the priority list for any coach in that environment. This is where I can help you. I offer 1-on-1 swimming instruction with no objectives other than improving your swimming technique. I have up to four cameras filming your technique from a variety of above and underwater angles. I utilize a headset so that you can clearly hear my instructions and cue words while swimming. The progress that my clients make over time has been extraordinary and game-changing. I’m confident that I can help you with your swimming needs too!
Over the past year, I have been a personal swim coach to all levels of competitive swimmers, from age-groupers to collegiate athletes to Olympic level swimmers as well as triathletes and masters swimmers. If you are a competitive swimmer, masters swimmer, triathlete, or even preparing for a military (Navy SEALs) swim, let me help you. If you are in need of private swim instruction, don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for one-on-one instruction.
The philosophy I employ during this process is a long-term one. I do not claim to make any sort of magical fixes to a swimmer’s stroke in just an hour or two. In order to make lasting changes, it takes time and repetition. I have found that swimmers who are focused and commit to a minimum of a once-a-month schedule have improved dramatically over a six-month period. Of course, those swimmers that I’m instructing 2-3 times per month tend to progress quicker. Schedule a call with me and we can discuss details of what schedule might work best for you.
I have partnered with SwimTech Gainesville, in Gainesville, Florida, where we utilize an Endless Pool. It is equipped with two underwater cameras and two above water cameras to enable us to see more clearly what you are doing below the surface. All your footage will be archived and stored on our servers, and you will have access to your own videos from your computer, phone, or tablet.
If you need work on your starts, turns or underwater kicking, or speed / race-pace work, or simply prefer the outdoor setting, I am fortunate to have access to an outdoor, 50 meter facility in Gainesville where those sessions take place.
I have also partnered with Greater Orlando Aquatics Team (G.O.A.T.) in Winter Park, Florida. I am on deck at G.O.A.T once or twice each week giving 1-on-1 instruction to G.O.A.T. swimmers. Additionally, I offer monthly weekend swimming clinics at the Winter Park site; any swimmer who is registered with USA Swimming may join.
Every summer, I have worked various swimming camps in the past including the following:
